More ice storms, the work is going slow

February 10, 2014

So this week was still kind of slow but things are slowly improving. We were finally able to get one person with a baptismal date, which was super exciting. I talked about how we were teaching the T's,  who are a part member family. We got their 11 year old daughter on date for her birthday on February 21, and she is super excited. Hopefully we can also baptize her brother on the same day and then eventually her mom. She is so ready and is already talking about all the people that are not members that she wants to invite to the baptism,  so hopefully we can get some referrals out of this as well. Hopefully this is a sign of things picking up. There hasn't been a baptism in this area for a year, so hopefully we can break the curse and have a bunch of them. That was the biggest thing that happened this week. We are just working hard and trying to get things rolling here.

(Letter to mom, answering all my questions)
We still get dinners every night, sometimes 2 in one night, it's hard to eat sometimes. The ward does love the missionaries.
I'm  good on contacts but I  kind of want to get glasses because my contacts are just really annoying. All my clothes are fine. I had to get rid of one white shirt because its ripped, but i still have a bunch more. I'm doing good. I do love it out here, it's great.
I'm  excited for the package. I might give the unhealthy stuff away. The Kimballs here are related to Heber C. Kimballs older brother or something like that so we are distantly related.
The weather  says there is a 100% chance of snow tomorrow,  so it might get crazy again. We will see. I'm  glad Sam survived (his first klondike campout), it's not that bad. Does Sydney expect to hear from byu soon?I'm excited to hear about it.
Abby in high school just sounds crazy. I'll write letters this week, I promise. We do exercise.

Hello!  The T family is good but the baptism probably won't happen this weekend. The storms made us have to cancel too many appointments and Bro T  has to work more to make up hours, so it's been harder to teach them. Hopefully next weekend. We had to stay in for 3 days again which made not much happen this week. (Ice storms in Atlanta). People were telling us about the earthquake,  but we didn't feel anything. I got my package, thank you. I did like the healthy stuff,  especially the apples. Letters will go in the mail today. I forgot that Sam will be a deacon by the time I get home. That's cool. I do have my patriarchal blessing with me and I  read it occasionally. Tell Anthony I said hi!

This storm wasn't even close to as bad as the last one. I probably won't write   a letter because we have to go,  and we didn't accomplish anything this week. But,  expect those letters in the mail and I'll talk to you next Monday.

So this week was still kind of as slow moving as the other weeks, but we are making progress with the T family. We met with them twice this week and both were awesome lessons. L is still committed to March 8 and we want to put her mom on that same date also. Brother T met with the bishop this Sunday and was interviewed to receive the priesthood so he can baptize them. That will be super awesome. Other than that we are still trying to find more people to teach. President has asked us to start teaching Preach my Gospel lessons to all the members so we are going to start doing that and hopefully they will give us some referrals. Hope everyone is doing well at home and I'll talk to ya next week.

(Letter to mom)
Hello. Im glad the kids liked the letters. That's funny that Jack wants to take that jacket to school (Max sent home a jacket he didn't need and Jack is taking it to school for show and tell.  He is excited to show the kids his brother's missionary jacket). I cant believe Sam got his braces off. I never got to see him with them on. Glad jack is starting swimming, he can be really good at it.
Finding a present was fun, but kind of weird(they went shopping for a birthday present for this cute 11 yr old girl they are teaching. She likes pink and zebra stripes.  I can just see how that went!) I can't believe Elder Summers is getting married, that's crazy! They didn't know each other before. (The companion he had right before Elder Crawford, Elder Summers,  went home in November and is getting married in May!  He is marrying the daughter of a wonderful woman who took such good care of the Elders in Thomaston, don't worry the daughter was at BYU at the time!). Elder Crawford's birthday was fun. I still have an ear infection. I don't know whats wrong, but I don't really care anymore. ( He has had the ear infection for at least 6 months if not more, been to the doctor and two rounds of antibiotics and can't get rid of it.)

Please pray for Elder Kimball and Elder Crawford that they can find more people to teach in their area.  There hasn't been a baptism for at least a year.  They are teaching a family right now, and hopefully they will be baptized soon!
