New companion! Working hard and sharing the gospel.

May 27, 2014

This week was alright. Tracted a lot with not a whole lot of success again. President has started a new thing where we commit each member family to a certain date when they will have a friend/neighbor in their house for a lesson. We already have a couple families committed, hopefully it turns out well. K is pretty much off the radar because she cant stop smoking. She still comes to church. She dropped both of our appointments last week but kept the one with the sisters, so we are just going to turn her over to them. We started teaching another lady that is pretty cool named J. She has been taught before and struggles with the Book of Mormon, but has friends in our ward and she can tell that there is something different about them. She is really nice and makes us cookies whenever we go over. She would make a great mormon. Hopefully she will make some progress. No other news. We are still working hard and having a good time here.

This week was actually pretty productive. We didn't have a whole lot of time to tract because we had so many appointments. We have 3 people with a baptismal date. D, the son of B, the recent convert, K, and RS.  His wife is a member and he, at 83 years olds, decided he finally wanted to be baptized so he could go to the temple.  So that was pretty cool. In the time we did have to tract, we found some people that were willing to have us come back. We even found a pastor and his wife that had never heard of the Book of Mormon and invited us to come tell them about it. Things are going very well all of sudden and I am excited for next week, and for all the people we are teaching.

So this week was kind of slow because of transfers. That always seems to happen. The beginning of the week Elder Tshuma spent packing and saying goodbye to people. The transfers last almost all day on Wednesday. My new companion is Elder Provstgaard. He's from Salem, UT and has been out 20 months. He's been in my district before so we were already pretty good friends. The rest of the week Elder Provstgaard was on some new pain medicine he had never taken, from a surgery he had, so that kind of put him out of it. We did have a good lesson with J , who I believe I have talked about before. We invited her to be baptized and she accepted if she gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon.  The date is July 19. Hopefully next week Elder Provstgaard will be back to normal and we can get stuff done. He is a great missionary though and has seen a lot of success. Our goal is to have 3 baptisms this transfer. I think we can make it happen. Hope everyone is doing well and has a great week.
Max said it was kind of weird to have all the sisters he came out with go home.

This week was pretty alright. We had 3 investigators at church, which was pretty good. Our most promising investigator right now is RS, the 83 year old guy whose wife is a member. He is getting baptized on July 12. D and J also both have baptismal dates but not as solid. Tracting does not work here.  I think it was inspired that Elder Provstgaard came here because he spent 10 months in a YSA ward on a college campus, so he has lots of good ideas when it comes to activities and working through members. Because thats all he did there. So we are going to try even harder to keep having appointments with members and get ourselves out in the community. We are going to see the mayor this week to see if she can use our help in any service in the city. Hopefully we start finding some new investigators soon, but the ones we do have are doing pretty well. Hope everybody is doing well, and have a good week.

I'm not sure, but there may be a few tears involved in this one, as Kimball and Crawford say goodbye.
Crawford went home at the end of June.

Last transfer for Tshuma and Crawford.  They are headed home.
